Firstly, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Hope you guys enjoyed the holiday period and now it's time to get back to challenging the mind!
In between learning the ropes at my new workplace and brainstorming for our upcoming launch and the brilliant shootout this Saturday, I finally found energy to catch up on the old pictures!
I'm particularly excited about sharing with you guys my pictures of Hanoi and of the "Christmas Lights" (you'll see what i mean when we get there!), but for today - let's start small and backdate a bit!
With regard to my post title, Singapore doesn't really get boring for me - always seem to be packed with all sorts of stuff to do.
But in the event that you guys are bored! Here is a day trip idea to get things going!!
We were blessed with a B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L day and we came up with an impromptu plan to make full use of it.
Crossed the border to JB for lunch!
The culprits were Tim, Ainsley & I! And we stopped at our favourite haunt - Ah Meng's!
Don't bother asking me how to get there cos Ainsley is always my designated malaysian driver!
The best things about this place are the fat and juicy pork lard and the huge fresh pieces of kidney and liver - slurps. Oh and you must always opt for 'suan gan zui' - lime juice with sour plum - cos Malaysia's ones are the awesomest!
The restaurant is opposite this secondhand car shop if that helps... heh...
but wait, look at how blue the skies were!!!
Bellies contented, and sleepy much, we set off to a further destination - which of these four options could it be??
The Land of Mamee!!! Melaka - known for their durian cendol, satay celup, chicken rice balls, nonya and portugese food. (Sorry, i seem to always rate Malaysian destination based on their food - cos their food is x100 better than Singapore chow)
Upon reaching, we rushed straight for our favourite massage! Two hours only RM80! And it is always freaking shiok!! (Not very relaxing - but good for our tensed-up backs!)
Ains always does this 'qua sha' thingy that results in the above horrific effects.
And spent the evening jalan-ing around their city.
Soon, we got the green light from our tummies and went in search for food again!
Where better to go then Jonker Street!
Our food haul..
Clockwise: Tornado chips (Singapore also have), Durian Cendol!!! (Must-have), Fried ice-cream and Malted Strawberries.
I was so ticked off that the auntie didn't have enough strawberries to offer me. I used to frequent a similar toffee place in Melbourne - then it closed down!!!! It had juicy sweet strawberries and I was sad for quite a bit.
If you guys are interested,
Buy cendol from this place (Not San Shu Gong - which is more commercialized)..
The auntie is super nice (: It's at the other end of the street from San Shu Gong.
Have never tried Jonker88 before cos it ALWAYS closes early.. sheesh.. must be damn good.
Anyone can let me know if it's really damn good?
How to make those yummy malted strawberries - dip into melted malt, dip quickly into ice water.
Sweetness overload!!
Took a quick mandatory scenic pic, Tim bought a binoculars and irritated us the whole trip back....
Never feed Tim sugar!!! NEVER. Gosh........
On second thought.... Tim high on sugar is better than Tim high on alcohol - see Tim's birthday
Had dinner at my 2nd favourite seafood place (Hope to go to No. 1 next weekend!! Excites!)
Dimdo seafood at Taman Sentosa in JB. Nope, don't ask me how to get there as well.. Good enough i can tell you the name. lol.
Love the salted egg crab here - it is watery. No. 1 is more like paste, more yums, and like 1/3 the price.
(JB is way overpriced)
Have been wanting to bring Liz here for the salted PRAWNS for close to two years now -.-
the prawns are awesome!
Well, that sort of sums up our trip - the trip took a little over 12 hours (1230pm - 2am)
It is tiring and it is better to make sure you travel with a trusted driver (plus point if he knows the route!) Otherwise, take snapshots of Googlemaps to guide you along!!
Did I mention that our 4th date was a day trip to JB?
Love the difference between us and the rest of the world.
