Nothing is set in stone, until the real stone (diamond) is set.
That's what I learnt today.
Had a 5 hour long employer/employee meeting to discuss employee feedbacks etc. followed by a family meeting to discuss the like.
EXHAUSTED.
Realised that my boss is bloody awesome, making me love my new workplace all the more.
Count your blessings, fellow colleagues.
Coming from a background where a day doesn't pass without seeing papers flying or a manager run down the hallways hysterically, the pace in this company is definitely much slower and manageable. Please, my ex-colleagues took the last train home every night AND worked through the weekends.
This place is really different and I'm happy for now.
3 simple things to be happy about my old firm and to carry over to my new environment:
1. Never be too busy to teach.
I'm always happy to proclaim how in my old firm my fellow peers or bosses are crazy busy and close to tears yet they will breathe, halt, and take the time to explain slowly and nicely. Very grateful for that.
2. Work is work, play is play.
Draw the line clearly. During work hours, we are all serious and hard workers but come lunch, we unwind and chat nonsense. Love that about my old firm. It is during that one hour that we relieve some of our stress and regenerate for the next half of the day. It is definitely much needed and beneficial.
3. Always remember to breathe.
Never let the pressure daunt you. And remember, nobody will DIE if you don't complete the task on time. (unless you're a doctor, then you better hurry)
Well, hope you learnt something and remember family trumps work every time. Don't lose sight of what is truly important at the end of the day.
