So R&R we did.
Morning everyone, I don't have any pictures to share from my awesome weekend (camera currently missing since my Melaka trip, hope I haven't seen the last of it) but I have an urge to share anyway.
Weekends have been packed so far, and been taking its toll on me.
But this weekend was just the perfect mix of activity and rest. Much needed.
This year is the last installation of a trilogy (2010: Between You and Me; 2011: I Want To Remember)
And I've been blessed to be able to attend all of them. A very interesting and enriching experience this journey has been (: Sidenote: I am no where near any artsy form, I appreciate the low levels of blatant modern art for the masses. So the SGartsfest has been great in making art appeal to the common likes of me. ((: yes!
Started off the weekend with Liz at our first Singapore Arts Fest Event.
This was a hush-hush event so I don't think I'll divulge any further ;p
It was fun though! and probably would have been more interesting in a more open setting.
Overall, it was okay and wasn't quite what we expected, could have been better.
Ended up in Mink later on that night, and it was all-in-all a pretty uneventful night. Sobriety and stress make good party-poopers.
Sleeping at 4-ish and up by 10am served to drain me for the next days' activities but I'm glad I didn't let it stop me. WE ARE YOUNG. Finally had some popiah from Coronation Plaza (yums much) and headed down to our second arts event: The Wind-up Bird Chronicles, a play based on a book written by the legendary Haruki Murakami.
I sat down in the comfy seat of the Esplanade Theatre half-expecting to be confused, left wanting, and eventually bored to sleep. But hey, I stayed awake most of it and it was REALLY REALLY good! Funny, chilling & intriguing. Totally exceeded my expectations! Loved it, bravo!
Got out of the cold theatre freezing and nua-ish. Spent the rest of the day chilling at the Festival Village and ended up going on "An Umbrella For Two"
In this 1-hour plus stroll, our ears were attached to a black umbrella and we were treated to sights and sounds as we walked through the city area. Gotta admit, didn't hear half of what they were saying on the headphones but the stroll was good. We even walked through CityLink Mall and received heaps of stares. The only interesting piece of information I heard was: Did you know the tactiles (tiles that assist the blind) in City Hall MRT are really misleading? They come to a complete stop at the exit towards St Andrew's Cathedral and you end up either in the toilet or the lift.
Fourth event of Our Lost Poems:They Only Come At Night: Pandemic
I loved this interactive piece the most. I think cos it appealed the most to my fantasy - FIGHT A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!!!
Continue reading if you aren't attending:
Again, we had very low expectations for this, expecting it to be just another haunted house.
Held at OldSchool, we were ushered in with headphones, lightstick and a map.
Couldn't really concentrate on the commentator as we looked at the various semi-gruesome 'exhibits' set up along the concrete floor. I almost stepped on a blood-stained ripped soft-toy.
Suddenly, a loud voice over the headphones asked us to congregate in the main hall.
We were all standing in the middle, attention focused on the screen in front of us when they started pouring SALT around us, trapping us in a circle!!
Haha, basically it ended up as a simulation as if we were the last standing survivors of a vampire apocalypse. FUN FUN FUN! And good casting and production overall.
I'm damn happy with this year's events, exceeding expectations.
Still got one last event next week!
After this entire day, I was close to a coma and conked out till 12 noon the next day. Sweet.
And had a relaxing day walking along Haji Lane and then a fabulous potluck with the Melbourne Crew at night! We had herbal chicken, butter pork ribs & cai from Two Chefs, indian curry from Al Azhars', massive pizza from Pepperonis', durian mousse from Serangoon Gardens, ice kachang from Adam Road. (And cake from Flor, before they came!!!) Ate till the guys dropped, I wasn't extremely full though - think I just ate too slowly.
SUCH A GREAT WEEKEND DON'T YOU THINK???
and i got to sleep quite a bit (((: whee, i've been so tired recently, late nights are making me fall asleep at the worst of places.
